The Mount Isa Regional Jobs Committee (RJC) is a place-based, community-led committee that brings together local leaders to address workforce, skilling and employment challenges across Mount Isa and Camooweal.
Established under a formal Terms of Reference, the RJC provides strategic leadership, local insight and coordinated action to support sustainable employment outcomes and regional economic growth.
Our Committee members are drawn from across the community, industry, education and government, ensuring decisions are informed by lived experience, local knowledge and evidence.

What the RJC Does
The RJC plays a key role in shaping workforce solutions that are practical, coordinated and responsive to local needs. Together, the Committee:
- Understands the region’s unique workforce and skilling challenges
- Provides strategic leadership and local advice
- Connects people with jobs, training and support
- Strengthens collaboration between industry, government, education and community
- Champions place-based, community-driven initiatives
- Uses local data and insights to inform decision-making
The RJC combines on-the-ground knowledge with data-driven insights to co-design initiatives that boost workforce participation, skills development and long-term economic resilience.
Committee Membership (2025–2027)
The RJC Committee is appointed for a fixed term (2025–2027) and is refreshed through an open Expression of Interest (EOI) process, ensuring transparent, fair and diverse representation.
Membership is designed to reflect the diversity, priorities and geographic footprint of the region, as outlined in the RJC Terms of Reference.

- Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs)
- Community Representatives & Groups
- Health Sector
- Social Assistance Sector
- Workforce and Employment Service Providers
- Tourism & Business
- Education Sector (Schools, Universities)
- Training Sector (RTOs, TAFE)
- Regional Economic Development Agencies
- Resources & Energy Supply Chains
- Local, State & Federal Government Authorities
This balanced representation ensures workforce solutions are inclusive, coordinated and grounded in real regional needs.
How the Committee Works
The RJC meets regularly to provide strategic oversight and direction. In addition, Working Groups are established to progress priority initiatives, events and projects.
Working Groups may focus on areas such as:
- Industry-specific workforce needs
- Youth pathways and school-to-work transitions
- First Nations employment and economic participation
- Skills shortages and training alignment
- Community expos, forums and engagement activities
This approach allows the Committee to remain strategic while enabling practical, action-focused delivery on the ground.
