Over three days, health and social assistance leaders from across Mount Isa came together for intensive training in workforce data, survey design and evidence-based planning. Supported by our delivery partners, the sessions built strong local capability in using data to drive better decisions, funding submissions and sector collaboration.

The Queensland Government has confirmed a two-year funding extension for the Mount Isa Regional Jobs Committee (RJC), backing local workforce solutions and community-driven economic development across the region.
The Mount Isa Regional Jobs Committee (RJC) recently held a vibrant event to celebrate the great work happening across the region. Local partners, committee members, and community groups gathered to share feedback, celebrate a program extension, and recommit to working together for a stronger local workforce.
The 2025 MPX & RJC Jobs Expo, held on 8 May 2025 at the Stack Mount Isa Civic Centre, was a successful collaboration between the Mount Isa Regional Jobs Committee and the North West Chamber of Commerce. With 15 exhibitors and over 120 attendees, the event focused on building local workforce capacity in the construction and manufacturing sectors. Featuring hands-on exhibits, training information, and prize giveaways, the expo connected job seekers, students, employers, and training providers. The event was proudly attended by The Hon. Amanda Stoker, Minister for Training and Skills Development and Mayor Peta MacRae, who both reaffirmed their support for local workforce development and regional partnerships.
The Mount Isa Regional Jobs Committee (RJC) proudly presented at the 2025 North West & Gulf First Nations Summit held on Kalkadoon Country from 22–24 May. As the only RJC in North West Queensland, the committee shared its bold, community-led approach to workforce transformation—driven by local voices, cultural strength and a shared commitment to change.

The Mount Isa Regional Jobs Committee (RJC) Local Workforce Community Forum, held on 13 August 2024, brought together government representatives, community organisations, education providers, industry leaders and employment services to collaboratively address local workforce challenges and opportunities. The forum served as a platform for productive discussion, idea sharing and strategic planning focused on economic empowerment and workforce development in the Mount Isa LGA. Insights gathered will guide the development of the RJC’s Annual Action Plan, supporting sustainable, community-driven solutions for a stronger regional future.
At the Mount Isa Local Workforce Forum, Mayor Peta MacRae emphasised the urgent need to accelerate economic diversification and attract net-zero-aligned investment to secure the city’s future beyond mining, following the Glencore closure announcement—highlighting council’s proactive transition strategy built around six key growth sectors and a skilled local workforce
