Chris Pocock has lived and worked in Mount Isa since 1997, when he commenced his career as a beginning teacher. Over nearly three decades, he has built extensive experience across the education sector and is a strong advocate for ensuring young people in regional communities have access to the same opportunities as their peers in metropolitan areas.
Chris currently serves as the Mount Isa Education Precinct Coordinator and substantively as Head of Campus at Spinifex State College – Senior Campus. His career includes roles as classroom teacher, Head of Department, Deputy Principal and Head of Campus, reflecting a long-standing commitment to student pathways, leadership and educational outcomes.
He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, and brings strong expertise in learning and development, youth engagement and pathway planning. Chris is also an active community contributor, serving as a Board Member of the Country University Centre and a member of the Mount Isa Hockey Association.
Through his role on the Regional Jobs Committee, Chris represents educational institutions including schools, RTOs, TAFE and universities. He is focused on strengthening connections between education and employment to ensure young people in Mount Isa can achieve their aspirations and contribute to the region’s future workforce.
