Steph Nicolaou

Steph Nicolaou is the Job Coordinator with Workforce Australia Local Jobs for the Townsville (including Mount Isa) Employment Region, funded by the Australian Government. She brings more than 23 years of experience across government, employment services, education and workforce development throughout North Queensland.

In her role, Steph works closely with industry, training providers, community organisations and government agencies to address workforce and skilling challenges. She supports job seekers through initiatives such as career expos, industry tours and targeted programs, while also working to address labour shortages in key sectors and improve workforce participation for underrepresented groups.

Steph brings strong strengths in strategic partnership development, workforce planning and aligning education and training initiatives with regional growth priorities. Her deep understanding of local labour markets enables her to connect people with meaningful employment opportunities and support employers to access job-ready talent.

Through her work with Workforce Australia Local Jobs and her role on the Regional Jobs Committee, Steph plays a key role in ensuring local voices, data and community insights inform government decision-making, supporting workforce strategies that deliver real, long-term outcomes for Mount Isa and the broader North West region.
