Thank You, Chris Ruyg: Celebrating the Legacy of Our Founding Chair
The Mount Isa Regional Jobs Committee (RJC) extends its sincere thanks to Chris Ruyg, who is relocating to New South Wales after making a significant contribution to workforce development across North West Queensland.
As the inaugural Chair of the Mount Isa RJC, Chris played a pivotal role in establishing the Committee following its formation in 2024. Through his leadership, strategic vision and commitment to collaboration, he helped shape the RJC into a trusted, community-led body focused on supporting workforce development and regional prosperity.
During his time as Chair, Chris worked closely with industry, community organisations, education and training providers, and government stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and create a shared approach to addressing workforce challenges and opportunities across Mount Isa, the Gulf and North West Queensland.
Chris was a passionate advocate for strengthening the social services workforce and creating pathways for local and First Nations people to access meaningful employment and long-term careers. His commitment to place-based solutions and collaborative action helped establish strong foundations for the RJC and the important work it continues today.
After stepping down as Chair, Chris remained an active and valued Committee member, continuing to contribute his knowledge, experience and passion for regional communities.
Current RJC Chair Jess Kelso acknowledged Chris's lasting impact on the Committee and the region.
"As our inaugural Chair, Chris helped lay the foundations for what the Regional Jobs Committee is today. His leadership brought together stakeholders from across the region and created a strong platform for collaboration, innovation and workforce development."
"His commitment to creating opportunities for local people, supporting regional services and championing partnerships has left a lasting impact on our region."
On behalf of the Committee, members and stakeholders, we sincerely thank Chris for his dedication, leadership and service.
While we are sad to see him leave the North West, we wish Chris every success and happiness as he begins this exciting new chapter.
Thank you, Chris, for your leadership, vision and commitment to strengthening our communities and workforce. Your legacy will continue to shape the work of the Mount Isa Regional Jobs Committee for years to come.
