A Successful Day at the 2025 MPX & RJC Jobs Expo

The 2025 North West MPX & RJC Jobs Expo, held on 8 May 2025 at the Stack Mount Isa Civic Centre, proved to be a landmark event for workforce development in the North West. Designed to showcase real career pathways, emerging technologies, and hands-on opportunities in construction and manufacturing, the event drew over 120 attendees and featured 15 diverse exhibitors from across the region.

The day offered a packed agenda, including live trade demonstrations from Mount Isa City Council teams, interactive training displays, and a dedicated Regional Jobs Board highlighting vacancies, apprenticeships, and upcoming training options. A key highlight was the Industry Panel: Building a Future-Ready Workforce, where local employers, educators, and government representatives explored the future of jobs and the skills needed to thrive in an evolving economy.

The event was officially opened by The Honourable Amanda Stoker, Assistant Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training, who engaged directly with employers, job seekers, and community leaders, and participated in the panel discussion. Mount Isa Mayor Peta MacRae closed the event with a strong message of continued local leadership and support for workforce growth.

The Mount Isa Regional Jobs Committee (RJC) led the coordination of the Jobs Expo and used the platform to present their key workforce initiatives—including the Co-Design of Training Programs, First Nations Jobs Plan, and Employment Survey & Data Literacy Project. These projects represent a shared commitment to building sustainable, place-based solutions for Mount Isa’s future.

With strong community engagement, sector support, and leadership at every level, the event delivered meaningful outcomes, strengthened partnerships, and laid the groundwork for long-term economic and workforce development across the North West.
