The Mount Isa Regional Jobs Committee (RJC) has officially confirmed its Committee for the 2025–2027 term, following approval of the incoming Chair by the Queensland Department of Trade, Employment and Training.
The Committee brings together a diverse mix of industry, community and government representatives, providing strong governance and leadership to support place-based workforce solutions across Mount Isa and Camooweal.
Representation spans key sectors including health, education, training, tourism, social services, economic development, resources, and all levels of government, ensuring a coordinated approach to workforce planning and regional priorities.
Leadership Transition
Outgoing Chair Chris Ruyg, who has led the Committee since its establishment in 2024, was acknowledged for his significant contribution to building a strong and collaborative foundation.
“Chris has played a critical role in establishing the Mount Isa Regional Jobs Committee as a trusted, locally led platform,” said Project Manager Natasha Storey.
Jess Kelso has now been confirmed as incoming Chair and will lead the Committee into its next phase focused on delivery and implementation.
“The Regional Jobs Committee provides an important platform to turn local insight into practical action,” Ms Kelso said, highlighting her commitment to ensuring workforce and training solutions reflect the realities of regional and remote communities.
Focus on Delivery
The Committee will now focus on delivering the Mount Isa RJC Annual Action Plan, supporting initiatives that strengthen workforce participation and align with regional economic opportunities.
