Mount Isa Regional Jobs Committee Comes Together to Celebrate Progress and Future Plans

A diverse group of community members, RJC Committee representatives, working group participants, and local stakeholders gathered indoors, smiling and engaged during the Mount Isa Regional Jobs Committee Reflections and Celebrations event.

The Mount Isa Regional Jobs Committee (RJC) brought together a diverse group of local voices recently for a fun and meaningful Reflections and Celebrations event. Hosted by Mount Isa City Council (MICC) and proudly supported by the Queensland Government, the gathering was a chance to look back on the progress made so far and look ahead to what’s next.

People involved in the RJC shared their thoughts on how the committee is helping bring different parts of the community together — from businesses and training providers to local government and service organisations. The feedback was clear: this collective approach is making a real difference in understanding local workforce needs and working toward practical solutions.

“It’s been great to see how everyone’s voices are coming together to make a stronger Mount Isa,” said one participant. “We’re not just talking about jobs — we’re talking about building futures.”

A highlight of the event was the announcement that the RJC program has been extended for another two years. This means the momentum keeps going, with more opportunities to grow skills, create jobs, and support the community in ways that really matter.

A big thanks goes to Mount Isa City Council and the Queensland Government for backing the program and to the hardworking RJC Committee, Working Groups, and everyone who’s been part of this journey. It’s the ongoing collaboration and shared commitment that will continue to drive real change.

The RJC encourages everyone in the region to stay involved and connected as this important work continues. Together, we can build a strong, resilient workforce that supports Mount Isa’s future.
